Education Requirements for a Mechanical Engineering by Karen Farnen.

On the very top of her post, she didn’t start her paragraph with an introduction like I have learned and usually do most of the time which is a hook first, background information, then a thesis all in the introduction paragraph. The way her post goes isn’t a five paragraph essay like I usually do which go from the introduction, three main body paragraph, then a conclusion. There are five paragraphs in her post however as I read them; the first two paragraphs are about the background information of the job or in other words the job description. This is her very first sentence “A mechanical engineering education opens up a number of career possibilities”. This is a fact, yet it is can be used as a hook as well, and it is not a bad hook, in fact, it makes me feel as if this source is reliable to read. Next, she writes about the typical duties of the job, where she tells about what an equipment a mechanical engineer will involve with such as generators, turbines, refrigeration equipment, engines, industrial gear, and more. And that was the reason why I want to be a mechanical engineer, I like to work with tools and equipment, the more advanced the equipment the more excited I will be, and since technology grows in a tremendous speed, this job is going to be so awesome. The third paragraph is where the main idea comes to place; the third paragraph talks about the education requirement to become a mechanical engineer. In this paragraph, Karen Farnen stated: ” A bachelor’s degree normally requires general classes in math, humanities, science, social sciences and engineering during the first two years, and specialized classes during the remaining years”. This is exactly what I’m doing right now; the first two years in college, I will spend time doing general classes, and above all is math; if I want to become an engineer, math will always be with me wherever I go. Here are some more classes that she listed: calculus, thermodynamics, physics, materials science, statics, dynamics and fluid dynamics, and laboratory sections. Many other engineering degree programs also include internships. Industry and Job grow trend are the last two main headers in her posts. There is some information there that I want to save it for other days; this post today is mainly to look at a mentor post and learn about the author post. I chose this post as my mentor post because of three simple reasons. first, this post has reliable facts and resources. Second, this post is easy enough to fully understand. Last, it is not too long to read. That is all for my first post into my final project “5 Weeks of me Learning About Mechanical Engineering”!
