A summary of Reading Like a Writer. The Author started his writing by introduce a little about himself and his life. Then, he got right to the main points of his writing. The strategy he use was quite simple; he put out a set of questions then answer them one by one. There are ten questions that he put out, but I’m going to list some of them here. The first question was; What does it mean to read like the writer? His definition is really long so I just want to put this as simple as I can. For me, I think he means that when we read at an article or a piece of writing, we want to be able to understand what the author is trying to say, looking careful at the author’s writing and think deeply about it. Second question, how is reading like a writer different from normal reading? Normal Reading: we read them for information, like reading about animals facts, Facebook page, or some newspapers. RLW: think deeply about the writing, what is the author trying to say, their purpose of saying that. I think that is enough questions to answers. After reading this, I learned that, before reading someone else writing, we should have a set of questions ready, and also be curious when you read, because being curious make you want to ask questions and learn more about the writing. We also should careful examine some of the important texts, know who is the author audience and lastly find the main idea or the purpose of the author writing.
